Expert Advice

How to Maximize Your Chances

Competition for scholarships can be fierce. Here are proven tips to strengthen your application.

Apply Early

Most scholarship deadlines are months before the academic year starts. Government scholarships typically open in March–May. University scholarships often coincide with admission deadlines. Start preparing at least 6 months in advance.

Maintain High Grades

Academic excellence is the #1 criterion for most scholarships. A GPA equivalent of 3.5/4.0 or above significantly improves your chances. If your grades are strong, mention specific achievements, class rankings, or academic honors.

Write a Strong Motivation Letter

Your motivation letter should clearly explain why Lithuania, why this university, and why this program. Be specific about your career goals and how the scholarship will help you achieve them. Avoid generic statements.

Prove English Proficiency

Strong English test scores (IELTS 6.5+, TOEFL 80+) strengthen your application. Some scholarships specifically require minimum language scores. Take the test early so you have time to retake if needed.

Apply to Multiple Sources

Don't rely on a single scholarship. Apply to government programs, university awards, and external grants simultaneously. The Erasmus Mundus catalogue lists hundreds of funded programs across Europe.
