New Law: Direct TRP Application — No Visa Needed!
Under the new Lithuanian regulations, Moroccan students who have been accepted to study at a Lithuanian university can apply directly for a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) without the need to obtain a separate National Visa (Type D). The TRP is issued for a duration of 2 years, covering most Bachelor's and Master's programs. This simplifies the process significantly!
The Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) is the only document Moroccan students need to legally reside and study in Lithuania. It grants you the right to live, study, and work part-time in Lithuania for the duration of your studies.
Timeline
The TRP application process typically takes 2-3 months from submission to approval. Apply as early as possible after receiving your university acceptance letter. We recommend starting at least 4-5 months before your intended study start date.
TRP Duration
The Temporary Residence Permit is issued for 2 years. This covers the majority of study programs. If your studies extend beyond 2 years, you can apply for a TRP renewal in Lithuania before it expires. The renewal process is straightforward.
Processing Cost
The TRP application fee is approximately €120. Additional costs may apply for urgent processing or courier services. Since there is no separate visa fee, the total cost is lower than the previous two-step process.
